Rubbin' is Racin'

I've brought up the idea of having a little session one day where we do some contact drills to make us all more comfortable with being run into or bumped while riding. It looks like this coming Monday is going to be pretty nice, low 60's and plenty of sun. I'd like to get a group together and go through about 5 drills I have found. I'll send out a file with them explained in some detail.

I need to know A) Is there still an interest from the team in doing this and B) What time will work for everyone on a Monday? I'm expecting this to be probably 30 minutes or so. Old Mill Park was suggested as a place to do this since it has large grassy areas where we can play around. You would need to bring tennis shoes for this. Just to put everyone's mind at ease, the types of things I am talking about are leaning shoulder to shoulder, riding with a hand on someone else's back, handlebar to hip, etc. All would be done at 5mph or so and if you 'fell' off you'd just put your foot down real quick, thus the need for tennis shoes.

Anyone game?

  2. I'm in and how about a crash-up derby at the end as a culminating activity. Jokes guys. This exercise is really good for comfort in groups. Also we should make it a monthly exercise for rehearsal. Thanks YoungGun

  4. You better put some rocks in your pockets Young Gun. The big boys are coming out to play and this time we have the advantage.

  5. I seem to have miscommunicated the intent of this exercise, it is NOT to see how fragile my collarbone is!!! I like the idea of monthly meetings of the Bang Up club. Does 530 work for everyone? FYI, renegades are more than welcome to this as well.

  7. Last one riding gets an ice cold Harpoon IPA.

Funny, when I MTB'd we would do slow ride without dabbing a foot. I always said, "anybody could ride fast, it takes skill to ride at my speed (slow)."

  9. Man this sound like fun! If work schedule permits I'm in!

The crash up derby sounds like "bike buck", we used to play outback behind the bike shop in the day (on beaters/trade-ins of course when the owner wasn't around!!!)
