Bicycle Safety
Wow, The safety seminar was a HUGE hit with all in attendance. There were about 150 kids and 15 faculty. Students were asking great questions, as were the teachers. The entire thing lasted about 45 minutes. Greg and Jeff's comments and perspectives were exactly what was needed. No doubt, the students will be safer and divers will me more cognizant. The high point for me was watching the kids rush up to Greg and Jeff for autographs on their water bottles. We had a fantastic time with all of the children. I like the direction the team takes on service! It's amazing how many kids are treasuring the bottles. Win-win

I had a blast and I think the kids did too! They were asking good questions and seemed entertained. We even had a faculty member asking some really good questions. I was happy to be of service for this. This was something my college team talked about doing but never got around to it which is something I regret. Hopefully we teach these kids the right things when they are young so we will have less problems on the roads from motorists and also have fellow cyclists who know how to act. Thanks for setting this up Bill.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all above, it was great for all involved it provided some good insight to proper safety and the right things to look for on and off the bike, the questions proved we had their undivided attention and they all were very eager to here what we had to talk about. Does this need to grow bigger? With the autographs session it may have done more for me then the kids. Bill you turned Greg and I in to pro racers in just 45min, How do you do it!?
ReplyDeleteAll I said was "that you guys were pros at that." They know who each member of this team is, by name and by reputation. As you saw, they also are quite astute about racing. The teachers and the students were impressed by your honesty and excitement. A bunch of kids made really flattering "thank you" cards, which will be dropped off at the shop.
ReplyDeleteThose bottles...Brilliant idea. We have 150 kids carrying these "treasures" all over the place and by the way, promoting this team FOR us. One boy in my class thought he lost his bottle(complete with Greg and Jeff's signatures) and was in tears. I found it...in my bike cage. Opps
Great job guys. We may be spawning the next LA from these sessions!
