BILL'S OCT RACING AND TRAINING(POSSIBLY)

Episode III Jeff returns. Had a great ride in the mountains on Sunday. We were hitting the lower slopes quite hard and I wished I had more Lamas bread, but MT. Doom awaited. The all-seeing eye was fixed on Frodo(Jack) and his quest to throw the "big ring" back into the fire from whence it came. I was so hungry that a raw fish that Spiegal was eating looked a feast. We rode like we were being chased by orks anyway. These Hobbit-forming cranks just have to go. I think I have a fever. Back to the Shire for me.

  1. Enjoyable review of the day. However, shouldn't that be "Return of the Jeff"? Looks like you confused Star Wars and LOTR to me. Not that I am a sci fi Fantasy geek or anything. Would that be Fernando Lamas bread? Oh and it is definitely not Spiegal unless you are shopping from a catalog store formerly located in Chicago. Life without a bike will drive one crazy.

  2. The Mts. made me feel like a little child in the back seat of a car on a long ride, all I could manage to get out of my mouth between gasping for air"Bill are we there yet" A ride with that much elv. gain will open ones eyes to the importance of weight to power. I could feel every lb I put on. riding with Gus and the team gave me some added support and drive to get back in shape. I enjoyed every moment of suffering, and can't wait to ride in the mts again!

  3. I had a down day on Monday, which was good since my hamstrings are strung from the new geometry of the Fisher. I did a long 35 min run in the grass last night and felt the added friction and soft ground. Tonight I will do PE1s on the cross bike in OMP. Looking to a three-race weekend. Anyone want to come to Richmond and be BikeWorks Hooligans at the Festival of Cross??

  4. Nah, I think it was Lorenzo Lamas bread. It's a little fresher.

  5. I'm getting ready both mentally and physically for the three races this weekend. I got in a great ride on Wed and tapered for the cross race and TT on Sat. The weather looks difficult(chilly and rain) and the competition looks quite HOT. I'm going for the hole-shot and sit on the front the first lap of the cat1/2 race. I will try to wind it down by the end so I have a little punch for the TT. I hope my fast start will make the leader have to maintain that for the race and have less left for the TT. Strange tactical situation, but I'm outmatched for certain and still want to dictate some aspect of the omnium. We shall see how that plays out.

  6. Woke up today with what I know is a slight fever. If I don't take my temp, it might go away by 1:00. Jack it going down to Richmond with me today, so I've got to go now!

  7. It all has turned! On the second day of the cross omnium I really pulled deep into my heart. God knows I did not have the legs, lungs, or technique, but I wanted so much to have something good happen on the bike that I screamed the bike on. It was interesting to see the cramps in the legs disappear as I growled at my piss-poor weakness. I still cannot explain what happened to me physically, but I can say that I borrowed someone else's body and I have not been here for some time. I ended in a place that I used to go to in order to survive in my past. As I write this I feel like a new degree of suffering is here and I welcome it back into my life. I really feel sorry for those who have to go even with me, because it's different now. I'm free to fly the coop. Illness has no home here

  8. So I got up this AM and did a complete Cyclo-core workout and spun for 10 min. The pain has not yet set in, but should be here sometime tomorrow afternoon. Therefore I better get my PE1 workout in in the AM. I hope the weather is better for a lengthy ride on Sunday. PUSH

  9. Just when I thought it was safe to go in the water...On Sunday I began to feel quite run down. By Monday I got through my teacher conferences with the parents and went to see what the DR thinks. After looking at films, two DRs ruled it NOT H1N1, but just pneumonia in both lungs(and quite severe at that). Thank god it was only that. It seems I had it the week of my three races-imagine that!

Well it will mean 2-4 weeks of complete rest. I'm just too pitiful at the moment to even care. Perhaps tomorrow!

  10. Since when is a 91% a failing grade? Well, it is if you are talking about your O2 potential. Still ranking in the Pneumonia category. How am I supposed to tear up the road if all I can do is read Chuck Hutch's blog on my couch? Hope everyone get's out tomorrow for some serious mileage.

  11. I've got no new news as to bike training. However, I am on a new batch of meds and am choosing to take the optimistic path here. I have miss 8 days of school over this and as a teacher, it's a heck-of-a-lot easier to be IN school rather than trying to get a sub to understand how and what I teach.

I have been meeting with some of the lycra-clad brethren to help them with training. It has seriously motivated me, but alas, I still have to wait. Easy spin in the middle of next week perhaps.

On a side note, I have caught up on Netflicks of all kinds. So, here is my HOTS and my NOTS.

Hot: Bottle Shock(true story about the rise to world stage for Napa wines in the 70's)I give it @@@@ cranksets!

Not: Fallen(WWII flick that takes an American, German, Italian, and Partisan perspective. All of them are weak, and all die in the end-Concept was nowhere near its intended sphere.) @ crankset 'cause it's WWII.

  12. Yes on Bottle Shock. Based on the book Judgement of Paris California v. France. Bonus that Chris Pine (the new Captain Kirk) is one of the leads.
